In the 21st century, people in Taiwan are beginning to face an important issue: extreme climate, which is an issue that did not exist in the past few centuries. In the extreme climate of the 21st century, architecture must be light enough to be assembled and disassembled fast and easily.
This project is trying to find a solution with material and fabrication. Kombucha membrane has its property of lightweight, low-cost, easy-cultivation, high-tenacity, high-tractability which is selected as the main material of habitation. The fabrication method contains four processes to cultivates the Kombucha membrane as a material of habitation which can be seen as four kinds of programs in plan and section. With a combination of steel and Kombucha membrane, it can provide a shelter for future refugees.
